Drinking fresh vegetable and fruit juices is one of the fastest ways to get well and lose weight! The enzymes present in the raw food you eat helps you to digest your food. I have read many books by Paul Bragg, and Dr. N.W. Walker and Dr. John Christopher that explain how to make fresh salads your main course along with fresh fruit and vegetable juicing.
Dr. Walker explains in his book, Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices, which juice combination is best for which ailment. Different juices have the vitamins and minerals needed for specific needs of each organ in the body. If the body digests it’s food properly without leaving toxic waste and is given the live food enzymes it needs with the vitamins and minerals that the body needs, the body should heal itself.
If you have eaten for many years incorrectly you may need to detoxify the body through juice cleanses and water fasts, supplements and herbs to supply the body with sufficient nutrients, and in addition you may need to get colonics, etc.
Ann Wigmore talks about wheat grass juice in your diet and sprouts that boost your immune system and provide you with vitamins and minerals that you need.
Juicing a pint of carrot juice, and in addition adding beet juice, apple, swiss chard or some other green will put you on the fast track for feeling better, eliminating through your colon and establishing regular bowel movements that you may never have thought was possible.
(When extremely ill you would want to increase the amount of carrot juice to one quart. Chew the juice to mix it with your saliva which is where digestion begins.
Here is a sample day of eating that can speed up healing.
Breakfast:
Place all in a powerful blender (I blend 2 times in a V-Tech blender and drink throughout the morning:
1 cup of wheat sprouts, have the sprouts as long as the kernal of wheat, not much longer.
1 to 2 cups of freshly juiced apple juice or fresh orange juice or frozen orange juice
1 cup pure water
1 to 2 bananas
5 strawberries or other fruit in season or frozen fruit
2 cups of spinach or romaine lettuce
Add one cup of ice cubes or if you have frozen fruit it would give the same effect!
This makes about 6 cups of juice, enough for 4 people for breakfast or for 1 person to drink throughout the day
Lunch:
Fresh Vegetables and Fruit salad with 1 Tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon honey for the dressing.
Dinner:
Fresh vegetable salad with one steamed vegetable and same dressing as above. Drink a pint of vegetable juice per day. One cup of herbal peppermint tea 30 minutes before meals or 1 Tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar and 1 Tablespoon honey in 8 oz. water with 1/8 teaspoon cayenne 30 minutes before meals enhances digestion.
Eating 70% raw and 30% cooked is a lofty goal and is incredibly healthy. I hope to do this consistently at some point. I remember watching a program of the Stars on television and when they want to lose weight they go totally raw for about 2 weeks to get into shape.
Make sure and keep your animal products to be 10% or less of your caloric intake per day. That includes all dairy products and meats. Cheese is the most addictive food there is. It contains 70% fat which is even more fat than a steak!
